Honk (or in this case...comment) If You Are the Mom of a High Schooler!

Today is the first day of high school for my 14 year old daughter. I can imagine all the excitement and nervousness she was feeling all morning.

She has never used an alarm clock to wake up for school, until today. I have been her alarm clock BUT she wants to get up at 5am! No one in this house is up before 6:15am so last night we had a lesson in how-to-set-the-alarm-clock-that-has-been-sitting-on-your-table-f0r-two-years.

I can say that all went well this morning. I heard her get up at 5am, go in bathroom and shower. She's always been an evening shower-er until now.

I picked up some really cool Ed Hardy folders and notebooks for her. She picked out a backpack. She had her first-day-of-high-school outfit.

I can not believe how fast she seems to be growing up.

I can't wait for her to come home today so I can try to pry out of her how the day went. I'm guessing I'll get a shoulder shrug and and an OK from her. Teenagers!

Now it's just me and my 4 year old again at home...that is until the end of August when she will enter preschool for the very first time (sob)! Registered & Protected

  1. My sons not in high school yet, but he does start the 4th grade tomorrow. I know it's only the 4th grade, but this year the talk about sex and stuff, which makes me sad. He's growing up way to fast!!

  2. All of my kiddos started school last week. Braedon is a freshman this year and Brea is a senior. Brea has early release this year, which means I have to pick her up at 12:30pm. Soon she will start her teaching internship and I will be responsible for all the driving taking her to and from the schools throughout the's going to be worse than having a kindergartner! LOL! At least Bryce and Brenna are in school too. It's a bit quiet over here for about 4 hours and I am loving it! :0)

  3. Oh man, I've been there! This is when the groups break apart into those that go out and party and those that don't. That's what I remember most about 9th grade.

  4. Wow...I can remember this better from my youth than as a Mom. Our son is only 2 so I have MUCH to look forward to...LOL.

  5. Not there yet, but wow your post brought back memories of my first day of HIgh School. The butterflys, having to have just the right outfit! Eek. Have fun:)

  6. Lots of challenges for a 14 year old. I hope it goes well for her. As for mom, well, quiet time is underrated!

  7. The good news is that she will survive and so will you! Although, it will be touch and go on occasion! My youngest (of three daughters) is a junior this year and it has all gone by very fast....unbelieveably fast! Enjoy it!!!
